1 . The Grand Palace

Millions of tourists flock to Bangkok to explore this magnificent monument as well as its meticulously maintained garden . The Grand Palace is the former residence for King Rama I to King Rama V of the Rattanakosin Kingdom and has now been used for hosting royal ceremonies and receipting VIPs . From its elaborately carved sculptures to its dainty architectural details , visitors are able to observe the homes of past reigning kings since 1782 . 3 . Wat Pho

Wat Pho , a.k.a. the Temple of Reclining Buddha , is classed as the highest grade of the first-class royal temples . It is renowned for its 46-meter-long reclining Buddha , a major icon in buddhist art which represents the passing of the Buddha into Nirvana after death . Other structures in Wat Pho include the Phra Ubosot , Phra Mondop , Phra Rablang , Sala Rai and much more . Something cool to learn is that it’s also regarded as the origin of Thai massage . A Thai medicine school was established here in 1955 to teach students about Thai pharmacy , Thai medical practice , Thai midwifery and Thai massage . 4 . Wat Arun

Wat Arun , one of the most popular historical landmarks in Bangkok , situates on the banks of Chao Phraya . The name Wat Arun , translated directly as “ Temple of Dawn ” was gained from god Aruna , personified as the glow of the rising sun . The most famous site in this ancient temple complex is the 80 meter prang , with a steep stairway that leads up to a terrace . Its spectacular designs are made with Chinese porcelain and pieces of colored glass , forming beautiful patterns . 5 . Erawan Shrine

Erawan Shrine is a place that gathers worshippers from all around the world , due to its high effectiveness . Here, people pray to Than Tao Mahaprom , a Brahma god that has four sides .
