This special municipality of Taiwan has been a famous port and industrial town for many decades. Apart from being the most bicycle-friendly place in Taiwan, the transformative power of the people here is evident in the famous Ai He – “Love River” which has been transformed from being a polluted river into a beautiful must-see spot for anyone who visits Kaohsiung.

Love River: The Paris of Taiwan

A river ride in the gondolas is highly recommended.  You can also explore the Pier 2 art district and Takao railway museum nearby. The Dome of Light was named the second most beautiful subway station in the world by the American travel website BootsnAll. You can deposit your luggage at the nearby lockers, explore this famous station, and then proceed to Ecological District, which is the closest station to the Lotus pond.

  • Liuhe night market and Xinjuijiang shopping district – for great street food and shopping experience around Central Park Area.
  • Fo Guang Shan Buddha Memorial Centre, the largest monastery in Taiwan, is also an amazing cultural experience worth exploring in Kaohsiung.
