Located in Xiulin township of Hualien county, Sanzhan river is a hidden gem which is well-known for indulging yourself in the river and cooling yourself on a hot summer day. Sanzhan river is next to an aboriginal tribe called Pratan in the region of Taroko National Park. Also known as “Little Taroko” due to its glamorous view and jewel-blue river of the river valley, you can easily erase all your pressure from daily life. In addition, if there’s an adventurous spirit living in your body, you can also go to the noted and epic river tracing spot “Golden Grotto” next from the start point in the Sanzhan river.
How to get there?
Riding a scooter or driving a car to Sanzhan river is the most classic and probably the best way to enjoy the gorgeous coastline scenery of the Pacific Ocean. Going north along Taiwan Route 9 from Hualien city, turn left in front of the Hualien Bridge and you can see the Sanzhan village after passing Jingmei train station. If you’re going south from the direction of Su’ao township of Yilan county, turn right in front of the Hualien bridge to Sanzhan village after passing Taroko. If you feel like taking public transportation, you can take Hualien Intercity Bus 1126, 1129,1132,1133 and 1141 to the Sanzhan Bridge station and walk for 5 minutes to the Sanzhan village.
