Kaohsiung MRT

Kaohsiung Rapid Transit (Kaohsiung MRT) covers the metropolitan area of Kaohsiung, Taiwan. It opened the first and second line in 2008 and stated the operation of the circular light rail in 2015. Although the local people don’t really take the Kaohsiung MRT, it’s still a good choice for tourist who first visits this city.

  • Route and Operation Time

The Kaohsiung MRT is made up of two lines (Red and Orange). Formosa Boulevard Station is the interchange station of these two lines. This MRT system also connects with other mass transportations. For instance, the Kaohsiung International Airport(KHH) station is on the red line. You can also transfer to the Taiwan High Speed Rail(THSR) at Zuoying (THSR) station.

The first train departs at 05:55 and the last train leave the terminal station at 00:00.

  • Fee

For tourists, we recommend using the KRTC multiple Day-Pass while taking the Kaohsiung MRT. 1-Day pass costs NT$150 and 2-Day pass costs NT$250, you can take unlimited rides within the valid period of time.

Of course, you can buy a single journey ticket(NT$20-60). If you plan to stay in Kaohsiung for more than two days, iPASS will be your best choice. The price of an empty card is NT$ 100 and once you top up the iPASS, each of your rides will receive a 15% discount.
